The Torkham border crossing was closed to freight trucks following clashes in early October and has now remained shut for 26 days.

Pakistan made this decision citing security concerns, with a spokesperson for its Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizing that “the safety of Pakistani citizens is more important than trade.”

The continued closure of the Torkham crossing has caused significant financial losses for traders on both sides of the border and disrupted the flow of trade and goods transit.
